Some Basic Principles
- Correct doctrine is important to God.
- 2 Timothy 4:3-4: For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.
- Titus 2:1: You must teach what is in accord with sound doctrine.
- We are entrusted with the secret things of God. We are stewards of His mysteries.
- Psalm 25:14: The LORD confides in those who fear him; he makes his covenant known to them.
- 1 Corinthians 4:1: So then, men ought to regard us as servants of Christ and as those entrusted with the secret things of God.
- Human knowledge is foolishness to God.
- 1 Corinthians 3:19: For the wisdom of this world is foolishness in Gods sight.
- Isaiah 55:8: For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the LORD.
- First mention. When something is unclear, study its first mention in Scripture.
- Nothing in Scripture is irrelevant. When things do not appear to make sense, there are treasures to be found.
