Notes:

• The authors speculate that twins are at higher risk to suffer from Shaken Baby Syndrome.
• Three of the four cases involved premature births. Additional factors included complicating diseases, a large head in relation to body size and weak muscles.
• The authors experience is that this form of physical abuse is independent of socioeconomic factors.
• "Most of the parents admitted that the shaking was finally triggered by a situation where they could not meet their children's needs, evidenced mostly by inconsolable crying."
• The parents did not act with the intention to severely injure or kill the child.
