- Three children, aged 8, 5, and 6 months, presented with intracranial hemorrhages without external signs of head trauma.
- After thorough investigation, it was found that:
- one child shaken baby syndrome
- one child had hemophilia B, not previously diagnosed
- one child had factor V deficiency, not previously diagnosed
- "Child abuse and congenital coagulation disorders may present with similar neurological symptoms and radiological findings. In these patients coagulation tests are mandatory."
