Materials:

• Teacher needs to know the answers to these questions for each student.
• Be sure to pronounce the child's name as nearly as possible the same way he does.

Language to be Taught:

The student will be able respond to the following with one or two word answers:

• What's your name?
• What is your address?
• Where do you live?
• What is your telephone number?
• What is your teacher's name?
• How old are you?
• What grade are you in?
• What is the principal's name?
• What school is this?
• Where are you from?

Possible Procedures

• Although one-word answers are generally not encouraged in E.S.L. instruction, teaching full answers to these questions is not necessary at this early stage if it is difficult for the child.
• Make sure there is comprehension by using pictures or drawings.
• The teacher may utilize some or all of these questions, or add others as appropriate. The objective is to ensure that the students understand simple questions they will likely be asked and can respond.
