Determiners

Every singular count noun that is not proper must be preceded by a, an, or the.
The
may be used with both mass and count nouns.
Teach distinction between: this / that, these / those
Teach distinction between: a / the, a / an

Vocabulary: a / an / the, this / that, these / those, some / any / many / much, all / several / few, a lot of, each / every, most

Introducers

Vocabulary: there is, there are, there was, there were, there will be, etc.
here is, here are
Practice both statements and questions.

Syntax: Are there any pencils? Yes, there are (some) pencils. No, there aren't any pencils.

Intensifiers

too

There is too much rain there. (Note: too has a negative connotation)

very

The boy is very tall.

only

There are only two pencils.

enough

The house is not big enough for them.

just

I just want to talk.

so

The teacher is so tired she can't come to the game.

even

There weren't even any clouds.

ever

Are we ever going to finish?

quite

He is quite unhappy.

rather

It is rather large.

such

I had such a good time.

own

This is my own dog.

really

The weather is really beautiful.
