Getting Started: Setting Up the Classroom
Some basic things to try to locate for the classroom might include.
- Computer station and software
- Language Master
- Blank language master cards
- Headphones
- Cassette tape recorder
- Blank cassette tapes
- Pictures of anything and everything! Some sources are:
- Magazines
- Old catalogs
- Getting Ready to Read books
- Old readers and discarded textbooks
- Special education resource center
- Dairy Council materials (food pictures)
- An "object box" filled with realia of all kinds (two of a kind if possible for work on plurals). Challenge the class to scrounge for common items to put in the box--rocks, leaves, pencils, matches, keys, cotton, wood, metal, etc.
The E.S.L. teacher can provide workbooks and materials, both to be consumed and checked out.
