  1. Elohim, "Creator"
    • Genesis 1:1: In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
  2. El-Elyon, "God Most High"
    • Genesis 14:17-20: Then Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine. He was priest of God Most High, and he blessed Abram, saying, “Blessed be Abram by God Most High, Creator of heaven and earth. And blessed be God Most High, who delivered your enemies into your hand.” Then Abram gave him a tenth of everything.
  3. El-Olam, "Everlasting God"
    • Isaiah 40:28-31: Do you not know? Have you not heard? The LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.
  4. El-Roi, "Strong One Who Sees"
    • Genesis 16:13: She (Hagar) gave this name to the LORD who spoke to her: “You are the God who sees me,” for she said, “I have now seen the One who sees me.”

    • Genesis 17:1: When Abram was ninety-nine years old, the LORD appeared to him and said, “I am God Almighty; walk before me and be blameless."

  8. Jehovah-Jireh, "The Lord will provide"
    • Genesis 22:14: So Abraham called that place The LORD Will Provide. And to this day it is said, “On the mountain of the LORD it will be provided.”
  9. Jehovah-Maccaddeshem, "The Lord your sanctifier"
    • Exodus 31:13: “Say to the Israelites, ‘You must observe my Sabbaths. This will be a sign between me and you for the generations to come, so you may know that I am the LORD, who makes you holy.'"
  10. Jehovah-Nissi, "The Lord our banner"
    • Exodus 17:15: Moses built an altar and called it The LORD is my Banner.
  11. Jehovah-Rapha, "The Lord our healer"
    • Exodus 15:26: He said, “If you listen carefully to the voice of the LORD your God and do what is right in his eyes, if you pay attention to his commands and keep all his decrees, I will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians, for I am the LORD, who heals you.”

    • Isaiah 6:1-3: In the year that King Uzziah died, I saw the Lord seated on a throne, high and exalted, and the train of his robe filled the temple. Above him were seraphs, each with six wings: With two wings they covered their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they were flying. And they were calling to one another: “Holy, holy, holy is the LORD Almighty; the whole earth is full of his glory.”
  14. Jehovah-Shalom, "The Lord is peace"
    • Judges 6:24: So Gideon built an altar to the LORD there and called it The LORD is Peace. To this day it stands in Ophrah of the Abiezrites.
  15. Jehovah-Shammah, "The Lord who is present"
    • Ezekiel 48:35: “The distance all around will be 18,000 cubits. ¶ “And the name of the city from that time on will be: THE LORD IS THERE.”
  16. Jehovah-Tsidkenu, "The Lord our righteousness"
    • Jeremiah 23:6: In his days Judah will be saved and Israel will live in safety. This is the name by which he will be called: The LORD Our Righteousness.
