About Susan

Susan C. Anthony is a teacher and home school advocate whose mission is to serve educators of children in grades K-8 by sharing ideas, resources and support. Susan grew up in the Colorado Rockies, attended the University of Northern Colorado on a National Merit scholarship, and earned a B.A. in Elementary Education. She taught English as a Second Language for a year before moving to Alaska, where she taught intermediate grades for 10 years in the Anchorage School District. She received a Distinguished Teaching Achievement Award from the National Council for Geographic Education in 1992. She has presented workshops at educational conventions around the United States.

Susan's first book, Facts Plus, was recognized by School Library Journal as one of the best reference books available for children. Since it was published in 1991, she has written 16 more books for teachers and home schoolers.

Susan has no children of her own. She was invited to speak to local support groups and at numerous state conventions after parents used and enthusiastically recommended her books. Although the books are easy to use in a classroom situation, home schoolers have found Susan's approach and philosophy to be closely aligned with their own.

Susan, her husband Dennis, and their golden retriever live in Alaska and love to spend time on their homestead and exploring the wilderness in their airplane or boat. Susan earned her private pilot license in the fall of 2001.
